Cosmogenic radionuclides used at NEIF
Intenede Learning Outcomes:
1. Describe the cosmogenic radionuclides (beryllium-10, aluminium-26, and chlorine-36) analyzed at NEIF Cosmo, including their production mechanisms and key properties.
2. Explain the processes involved in sample preparation and measurement of cosmogenic radionuclides at NEIF Cosmo, including the removal of meteoric components and the use of accelerator mass spectrometry.
3. Identify the factors influencing the selection of suitable minerals for in-situ cosmogenic radionuclide analysis, such as aluminium-27 background levels and neutron capture effects.
