Ana doing field work

Dr Ana Carracedo

Dr Ana Carracedo manages the Aluminium-Beryllium Sample Preparation Laboratory at the National Environmental Isotope Facility (NEIF), specialising in cosmogenic nuclide analysis to understand geological and geomorphological processes. Her research expertise includes the application of cosmogenic isotopes, particularly ^10Be and ^3He, to investigate episodic erosion in Antarctic landscapes and decipher the cosmic exposure history of meteorites through noble gas isotopes. Ana has published significant work on erosion patterns in West Antarctica and the isotope geochemistry of Scottish meteorites. At NEIF, she teaches sample collection, preparation, and analytical techniques for aluminium and beryllium cosmogenic nuclide dating, training researchers in advanced isotopic methodologies.
