This course will focus on the use of stable isotopes to understand modern ecology. We will cover experimental design, sample collection and analysis, and best practise for data management. We will focus on a range of trophic studies to compare urban and rural habitats and diet, and this affects population health. We will use the recent studies of pangolins using field sites in Gabon and studies using feathers and tail hair to interpret migration patterns. The course will cover sample analysis for blood, keratin and hard tissue, the specific methods applied to each, and corrections applied within the NEIF laboratories.
This course is under development and will be open for registration in Spring 2023
